Market Square Park

Lauren Griffith Associates and Kerry Goelzer, while at Ray+Hollington Architects and at Kerry Goelzer Associates, provided the planning and design services for the new layout of Market Square Park located in downtown Houston. The new park design which includes a dog run, center lawn, garden, promenade, plaza, water feature and kiosk, has revitalized the Market Square area in downtown Houston since opening in Fall 2010. It has become a neighborhood park for those who live in the area and a destination spot for those who live elsewhere. The trellis provides a shaded seating area for eating, reading, or people watching, and also functions as a small stage for performances and gatherings. At the kiosk, the popular Niko-Niko’s restaurant serves meals prepared on site at the park in the extremely efficient kiosk kitchen.
